0:30 – Welcome to the show.
Back before I even started my BeBuildHave podcast – almost a year ago! – I originally wanted it to be a live business coaching/workshop show, but I kept talking myself out of it because I didn’t know how to execute it.
Around that same time, I’d also been running a live local weekly business workshop/mastermind group. Business owners who attended would regularly tell me that meeting was the highlight of their week.
This live hangout is the merger of the BeBuildHave podcast that I’ve been doing for the past year with the energy and engagement of that live, in-person event that everyone loved. This is the show I always wanted to do!
2:30 – Meet Dr. Bill Moss of Keystone Specific Chiropractic Center #KSCC
Dr. Bill’s win for the week is seeing the community reflect back to him exactly the image and culture he’s been working to engineer. It’s an example of how effective marketing and presentation, when matched with a clear vision and goal, can create exactly the results a business owner is looking for.
4:50 – Meet Amy Sutton. Amy is an online retailer and eBay and Amazon FBA expert.
Amy’s win for the week, as well as her ongoing challenge, is to select profitable products to build her online catalog and inventory.
6:55 – Meet Laura DiTomasso consultant at LauraDiTomasso.com
Laura consults with venture capitalists to evaluate prospective investments and also works with companies to in internal valuations.
Laura has been doing this work for many years as an intrapreneur and has recently launched her own business to offer her services and value to the world. Congratulations, Laura!
9:30 – Dr. Bill talks about how he moved to a new area with little more than the intent to open a new practice. Within three months he opened his doors to a full schedule of paying practice members. Bill shares how he was able to accomplish this with effective networking and putting himself in the position to attract his ideal fit clients.
His two key lessons learned were:
1. Put yourself in front of your target market.
2. Commit to being successful right from the start and make sure that’s what you’re showing everyone.
Staying focused on your goals and presenting yourself to the people you want to work with as the person you want to be is the key to networking success in Dr. Bill’s experience.
He also advises that the best way to keep fear from creeping in is to keep yourself busy taking effective and bold action.People are drawn in and want to be around successful energy. Click To Tweet

17:00 Laura sets up where she is and where she’s trying to go.
Laura sees her biggest challenge right now as testing her market and proving her business idea is on target.
I see that a lot of business owners are concerned about knowing they’re on the right path. The dilema is that the market wants to be led and looking for proof before you sell yourself is feels intuitive, but is actually putting the cart before the horse.
The proof of a business idea is in getting someone to pay you for it.
Going into networking with the dual, and possibly competing, motivations of trying to research and sell at the same time may set you up for frustration.
Yes, it’s important to keep your eyes and ears open and to what your prospects are looking for and how they are responding to your offer, but it’s your job as the business owner to identify the need and establish your offering as the solution.
25:45 – Being the person that you are putting yourself out there to be.
3:05 Billt talks about selecting the right networking groups and targets to make sure you’re putting yourself in front of the right people.
In your networking, it’s important to really know who your target market is so that you can have a way to track if you’re getting in front of them or not.
The more specifically you can identify who you need to be talking to, the easier it will be to get referrals. It’s a lot easier to ask for an introduction to a specific person than a generic “someone who need my service”.
33:00 Getting out there and having conversations with your prospects is invaluable, both from the standpoint of practicing and perfecting your message as well as the benefits of simply taking action and creating movement and energy around yourself and your message.
34:50 Is there a market for my services.
You might have this question in your business. Testing, refining, and researching is not selling – is not a business. Generating revenue and selling your services is a business. If you have doubt, is it really doubt about the value of your service or offering? Or is it doubt about your ability to sell it?
When you believe in yourself and in your idea and proceed with confidence the market will follow.Your prospects will believe in you when you believe in yourself. Click To Tweet
If in your business you believe that not every idea is viable, including what you’re promising, you will not inspire confidence in your prospects. It’s time to get committed to your own success and be fully sold on the value of what you offer.
43:45 – Laura’s big challenge is getting comfortable talking about what she does.
I find with myself and with most successful business owners that I coach and interview that confidence in talking about what you do comes with belief in yourself and having trust and faith in your own abilities. How can you be more confident in your offering and abilities so that you can focus your energy fully toward achieving the goal of growing your business and achieving your personal and financial goals.Your prospects want to be led. You need to be the leader in your business. I learned this the hard way with my tech business, and maybe that’s the only way to get there, but as a new business owner – or an established business owner who still struggles with some of these frustrations – TAKE OWNERSHIP and get out there and do it!
53:50 – Laura comes to the realization that “I know that I’m good enough to do the work. I’m confident that I’m good enough to convince someone to pay me to do it.”
This is the biggest challenge many business owners have and it is 100% about your confidence and belief. This is the most common issue I help business owners with in my one-on-one coaching, and as I say in the video, is the main thing I’ve had to face in my own life. So I can tell you from experience, belief and trust in yourself is the most valuable asset any business owner can bring to the table in a sales or business development situation.
If you’re a business owner struggling to reach your goals or grow your business the way you want, look at your own belief and self-confidence first. What your clients are buying from you is confidence. They are putting their business in your hands. - Amy Sutton Click To Tweet
