Many business challenges can be linked to underlying frustrations, anger, depression, or a number of other negative emotions or negative energy of the owner. Surprisingly, even though you might recognize that it’s counter-productive, there might be a good reason for not letting it go.
Is it really in your best interest to let go of negative feelings?
Many business challenges can be linked to underlying frustrations, anger, depression, or a number of other negative emotions or negative energy of the owner. And many conversations I have with clients and business owners get to the point where they realize that the negative energy may be negatively impacting their business or the results they’re getting, but there still seems to be a reason to hold on.
It’s the underlying fear is that without that negative energy fueling them to strive for perfection, maintain control, or prove themselves with results – without that negative energy – maybe they’ll just die on the vine and loose the motivation or drive to do anything.
It might sound counter-intuitive, but I’ve been there. I get it. Being driven by anger, shame, fear, and anxiety was all I knew at one point. It got so that I felt like I needed it. And if I didn’t have it I’d have nothing. So when the time came to decide to let it go it wasn’t as easy a choice as you might have thought. And it isn’t always an easy choice to make still today.
But think about this… Remember playing with magnets, and how if you put together the ends a certain way they would repel each other, but if you flipped them around they would attract and stick together? Well, people have a similar emotional dynamic.
Those with strong, negative emotional energy will attract others with similarly negative energy and push away or repel those with more positive energy. Likewise, those with positive energy – like confidence, charisma, happiness, and joy – will attract others with similar positive energy.
So think about what you’re trying to accomplish in your business. Are you trying to attract more negative employees, prospects, and clients (and their associated baggage, challenges, and problems)? Or are you trying to attract more positive, energetic, pleasant to be around, and happier employees, clients, and prospects? Which energy will serve you better?
Not only that, but the positive alternatives are much stronger. Yes, you can force yourself into action out of fear or anger. But what if you were pulled by desire, joy, hope, and your natural ambition?
If it sounds hard to accept, it’s not because you haven’t had these things or they aren’t available to you. In fact, they’re already in you right now – silently waiting for their time to shine. But they’ll only rise to the surface if you make the room for them. They’re easily crowded out and will defer to the negative energies for as long as you prioritize them first.
But with a little faith and courage, you can let go of the negative emotional energy. And if you can allow the positive emotional energies to rise to the surface and guide your actions like they were meant to, you might find that life and business get a whole lot easier. If you allow positive energies to guide you, you might find life gets a lot easier.
