I know what it’s like to build a business and to feel proud of what you’ve accomplished, but also feel disappointed or frustrated that it’s not exactly what you know it could be or worse, resentful of what it’s doing to you.
Turning the Business You’ve Got Into the Business You Want and Love
So how do you take this business you’ve built and turn it into a business you love?
It starts with you.
First, allow me to point out that, as in romantic love despite what the movies tell us, the purpose of love (and your business) is not to complete you or make you a better person. In fact, it’s exactly the opposite. You will be most capable of love (and building a business you love) when you can fully realize your wholeness and true gifts and talents and be free to share them with those around you courageously and without need.
So start by knowing yourself – how you came to be who you believe you are and who you really are underneath your experiences, injuries, and fears.
From there you can be free to explore, without fear or neediness, what you really want more and less of in your business and your life.
You may uncover some things you’ve been avoiding that you’re now able to face.
Business is deeply personal, perhaps more so than any human endeavor. After all, business is nothing but relating with and exchanging value with those around you as employees, vendors, customers, or prospects. If you are not able to love yourself and be free to love them you will struggle.
And finally, it’s critical to build with intention.
You can hope that maybe somehow someday your unfocused undirected actions will eventually result in the business you want. Or you can build exactly the business you want with intention and focus.
One way is the path to frustration and depression, the other is the path to success, happiness, and fulfillment.
