Many business owners would like to experience a faster growing business, making more money, or having more control of their time. But if that hasn’t been your experience in the past, how do you get there?
Choose New Experiences In Your Life and Business
There are two things that keep you from having new experiences.
Habit makes life easier, but also completely predictable.
Imagine how difficult things would be if you have to put conscious effort behind every action and decision. Every day having to start fresh coming up with solutions for how to get out of bed, brush your teeth, and learning to walk again. Habits serve us well. Habits make the easy things in life, well, easy.
But they also are a large part of why you’re likely to have the same (or very similar) experiences day after day, excel in all the same situations, and struggle with all the same challenges.
If you’ve ever tried to give up a bad habit or start a new good habit, you can probably attest to the fact that habits can be a blessing and a curse.
The good news is, your best tool against habit is conscious choice. Choosing to have a new experience, just once, is well within your ability. And if you can choose it over and over, it can become a new habit.
Now you may not be able to choose to make more money or get control your time right off the bat, but you can start choosing to experience asking for a sale, asking for more money, or saying no one time. And then choosing again and again until you get to the experience you want.
Avoidance doesn’t just keep you from what you don’t want, but also from what you do want.
One might avoid saying “no” to prevent being disliked, avoid asking for a sale to avoid rejection, or avoid making a tough call to avoid failure.
Until you are willing to risk being disliked, rejected, or failing you will not have the experience you desire.
Until you’re willing to experience what you don’t want, you won’t experience what you do want. You can't win unless you're willing to risk failure. Click To Tweet
So face what you’ve been avoiding and choose experiences that will move you toward your goals and you’ll find yourself on the path to achieving your goals.
