Often when I talk to a business owner who feels like they aren’t getting as much of what they want as they’d like, they tell me about all the things they should or need to be doing to get there. So if you know that, why isn’t it working?
How to Get Better Results Faster
Actions create results. So if you’re not getting enough of the results you want, or you find yourself having to work too hard to get by, what’s happening? It’s not that you’re afraid to put in the work, but it just isn’t working.
Let’s start by putting all the actions that you do or could be taking into three categories.
What you can or can’t do.
More specifically, the things you can or might be able to do vs. the things you know (or believe) you can’t do. If you don’t believe you can do something, or at least suspect that you might be able to, you’re very unlikely to even try.
What you want or don’t want to do.
This category is the most important and simplest, but also the one we fight against the most.
What you should, have to, or need to do.
This is the category where frustrated business owners are likely spending most of their time.
If you “need” do do something that you don’t really believe you can or at some level don’t want to do, you most likely won’t. Think diets and exercise programs.
If you know you “shouldn’t”, but really want to, you most likely will. Think quitting smoking.
In either of these cases you’re fighting against your own desires and beliefs.
The recipe for success is simple. Align your beliefs, desires, and actions so the results you desire become the natural outcome of what you do.
If you’re struggling because you find yourself doing things you shouldn’t be doing or mad at yourself for not doing what you need to be doing, try to shift your focus to what you want to be doing.
Having the courage to acknowledge what you want can be hard. But if you can align your values, desires, and beliefs with your actions the results you want will flow to you.
If you want to know more about how to apply this in your own life, email me at email@example.com and we can set up a strategy session. It won’t cost you anything but a testimonial and 45 minutes of your time.
